Kombucha, made by fermenting tea with a SCOBY, has been gaining popularity due to its numerous health benefits. It’s rich in probiotics, which support gut health, and antioxidants that can help fight inflammation.

Step-by-Step Guide to Making a Kombucha Mojito

Now that we have all the ingredients and equipment ready, let’s move on to the fun part—making our Kombucha Mojito!

1. Prepare the Mint and Lime

Start by washing the fresh mint leaves, then tearing them and adding half to each glass. Use your juicer or lime squeezer to squeeze the juice from each lime into the 2 glasses. Chop up half of each lime into small pieces and add them to the glass too. If you're adding simple syrup or agave syrup, add that now too.

2. Muddle the Mint and Lime

Use a muddler to crush the mint leaves and extract their oils and flavours. This step is crucial for infusing the drink with a strong minty aroma and a subtle sweetness.

3. Add Your Ice Cubes

Large ice cubes work best here to stack up through the glass.

4. Add 150ml of fresh Kombucha to each glass, and if you're adding alcohol, add this now as well.

5. Top Your Glass with Soda Water

Our homemade Kombucha isn't carbonated like most shop bought Kombuchas so it can work nicely to add a dash of soda water for a little bit of fizz.

6. Garnish and Enjoy

Option to add a couple of sprigs of fresh mint and a lime wheel as garnishes if you're feeling fancy!

Why Kombucha Mojitos Are a Perfect Summer Drink

Now that you know how to make a delicious Kombucha Mojito, let’s explore why this drink is an excellent choice for a sunny summer evening.

Refreshing and Invigorating

Kombucha is naturally effervescent, giving the drink a light and bubbly texture that feels refreshing on a warm day. If you like a bit more fizz, you can add more soda water.

The combination of mint and lime juice creates a zesty and invigorating flavour profile that keeps you hydrated and energised.

Probiotic-Rich Benefits

One of the key benefits of Kombucha is its high probiotic content.

Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for your digestive system. By including Kombucha in your diet, you can support gut health, boost your immune system, and improve overall wellness.

The addition of fresh mint and lime further enhances these health benefits.

Low Sugar Option

Traditional Mojitos can be quite sugary, but by using Kombucha and adding your own amount of simple syrup or agave syrup, you can create a lower sugar version that still tastes fantastic.

This makes the Kombucha Mojito a healthier alternative without compromising on flavour.

Versatile and Customisable

The best part about making your own Kombucha Mojito is that you can customise it to suit your taste preferences.

Experiment with different flavours of Kombucha (see our huge range of Kombucha Brew Bags here), types of mint, and additional fruits or herbs.

Hiding Probiotics

Kombucha Mojitos are perfect for hiding probiotics, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals for fussy teenagers, partners or children. They’re easy to prepare and can be made in batches, making them ideal for large groups too.
